The Artist

About Linda

Linda Gedak

To me, art is like telling a story, only without words. It has always fascinated me that a mood or feeling can be created with colour and shadow.

As a child, I dreamed of becoming a cartoonist; always striving to have my drawings come to life. When I discovered oils and began to paint, it opened up a whole new world for me. With the depth of colour and texture within this medium, I soon realized I could put movement and life into a single picture. From there, I went on to discover water colours and acrylics; experimenting with the unique styles that I could create with these mediums. However, I was always drawn back to the moody depth of oils.

As a self-taught artist, I have been drawing and painting for most of my life, selling my first commissioned oil painting at fifteen. I have always believed in working hard and doing my best at whatever task that has been set before me, and to me, my art work is no different.

I find that the more energy and the more of myself I put into my work, the more feeling it has. I believe it's that same energy which gives it life. As an artist, I feel you never stop learning; to this day I am continuously discovering new techniques using light, shadow and texture.

“From the warmth of a smile in a portrait, to the sunlight filtering through a cloudy sky, the miracle of art never ceases to amaze me. I look forward to sharing my passion with you!”
